Great if you know how to use.

I have used Airbnb for about 5 to 6 times from Australia, Malaysia to Hongkong. Reading alot of lousy review from here make me laugh.

First, cancel policy is set by the owner. And it is stated clearly in the page wether they have strict cancel policy anot. I believe some hotels have this policy too.

Lousy experience or lousy stay?. Do you read reviews on the apartment or host before deciding where to stay? There are alot of good host and apartment out there. You need to do research before even making a booking. Factors to consider, location, cleanness, host.

Credit card fraud? Obviously your credit card details have been stolen. It may due to spyware in your computers or public wifi. Just happen your credit card details are being used to purchase in Airbnb. My bet is that the hacker is a host in Airbnb and use it to get your money. Call the bank immediately and change a card!

Airbnb is good on cost saving and experience living like the locals. But having that said, research is needed to have a good experience. Unlink hotels you could just stay in "branded" hotel where not much things could go wrong, of course you pay a premium.

Never had a problem with Airbnb. We always book refundable rooms as that way there is no issue. It is up to the consumer to be aware and do the right thing and then you will have no problem.

Great customer service, great hosts

I have used Airbnb on five occasions so far and I was lucky to have encountered great people and flawless service.

There was a bad experience with a host however, on a night where I had to make two short notice bookings. For one of them, the host was excellent, responded very quick to the messages, agreed to host us and had a very nice stay.

Good option for budget minded travel every now and then with caveats

I recently completed a 2 week stay through AirBnb. Overall I think I got good value for my money.

Excellent customer service!

We had an issue with our host in Greece double booking our accomodation and putting us in an inferior room for half our stay. Finding more and more issues the longer we stayed, our room was then ransacked while we slept on our final night at the venue. The venue manager refused to help us.

This could happen anywhere, but the outcome of this could have been better. Airbnb promised to look into this and followed through. They reimbursed the full amount paid and gave us a further credit for our patience. I've had some great experiences around the world with Airbnb and this instance is the reason why I will always book with Airbnb

Two Great Experiences.

My daughter & I used Airbnb to book lodgings in Budapest & Venice. Both accomodations were clean, bright, roomy & in convenient neighborhoods. In both cases, our host & hostess were gracious & helpful. My daughter has booked through them on at least two other occasions (Paris & Brussels, I think?) and was pleased. We have booked rooms through Airbnb for our trip to Athens this Spring, because we have been happy with our previous bookings. It is like a home away from home!

Absolutely amazing, prompt, and helpful. Did everything they could to help and were very reasonable in dealing with issues when things went wrong. Had a bad experience while traveling and they made it much better.

Just stayed at another awesome five star AirBnB. This stay was a week in the Netherlands. Amazing hosts, gorgeous big light airy loft with a kitchenette, dining space, balcony with cafe table, and a view from heaven! $90 a night. These were gold metal, top rated hosts, and they totally deserved their rating. I repeat: look for the raves reviews and ONLY book those hosts. ONLY

I spent two wonderful five day stays in Europe using AirBnB. Perfect places, awesome landlords, great experiences! After reading all these negative Nancy reviews I just had to put in my two cents worth here.

Simply put, this is all on you renters. You have the INTERNET. Awesome tool this thing. Use it and do your research. When you find a listing that interests you, for cripes sake read ALL the reviews. Judiciously. Bad reviews? Don't book. No reviews? Don't book! Google map the place. You can look at the street view and area. Safe? Dicey? Easy access to where you want to be? Consider those pictures on the web site. Gorgeous view? Old building? No lift?. Ok, you are looking at a 5 floor walk up with luggage. Know that. Does everyone rave about the landlord being helpful and available? Good sign. All five stars? Good sign. I've had nothing but wonderful experiences with AirBnB, but it isn't idiot proof, and of course nothing is perfect. Use your head and it can open the doors to some amazing adventures. I LOVED my experience, and my hosts. They all had numerous five star reviews. I gave them two more!

I have used AirBnB quite a bit, initially as a guest, and more recently as a host. For those like myself who detest hotels, it is a great option when traveling.I have had nothing but positive experiences so far with the company, the hosts, and my guests.

I have been using Airbnb for years. I have stayed in multiple states in the USA, in Paris, in Iquitos, Peru, and in Canada. The places I have stayed have always been exactly as described in the listing, the hosts have always been helpful and friendly, and I have never had any issues because I only stay at places that have 100% positive reviews by previous customers.
