The path to Elite: Dangerous' release has been nothing short of eventful.Working on the project for several years beforehand, Frontier Developments announced a Kickstarter campaign in 2012, both as a means of test-marketing the concept and raising £1.25M funding to complete the game.
A great success, Elite: Dangerous broke records as the highest funding target to be achieved on Kickstarter by the time the campaign closed in early 2013, raising 126% of the Elite: Dangerous'al goal.
A two year development process followed, phased with a number of releases each focused on different capabilities and features of the game, with Alpha and Beta products offered out to the gaming community to give people the opportunity to play, test and feedback directly to Frontier.
The release of Elite: Dangerous was celebrated at a premiere event held at Duxford Imperial War Museum in November 2014, preceeding the worldwide release of Elite:Dangerous on December 16th 2014 to great acclaim.
